Ege Academic Review (EAR) is a multi- and interdisciplinary peer-reviewed academic research journal which is published online with the official support of the Ege University Faculty of Economics and Administrative sciences. The principle purpose of the journal is to publish scholarly work in economics, business and international politics. The publication language of the journal is English.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of areas that are primarily considered to be within the scope of EAR (by alphabetic order):
EAR welcomes original articles primarily based on empirical research and is particularly interested in comparative studies, case studies, cross-country studies. The journal strongly encourages interdisciplinary and comparative publication that addresses local, national, regional and international issues and problems.
Submissions are evaluated on their academic rigor and methodological soundness.
Peer Review and Publication Policy
The editorial board reserves the right to reject manuscripts if they do not meet scholarly originality, or conform to journal aims and scope or follow submission guidelines.
All submitted works undergo scholarly peer-review process. Articles are initially screened for relevance, originality and contribution by the editors. Only manuscripts of sufficient quality that meet the aims and scope of EAR will be sent out to at least two referees for double-blind reviewing. The editors may return manuscripts for revisions or to organize them in the house journal style. While the views of external reviewers are of primary influence on editorial decisions, the editorial board remains responsible for final decisions (not) to publish submitted manuscripts.
Publication Ethics and Conflicting Interests
Authors will be held responsible for academic integrity and publication ethics. We encourage authors to refer to EAR’s “ethical principles and publication policy” and to include a declaration of any conflicting interests in the cover letter.

1. Starting Submission:
Before submitting your manuscript to EAR, please ensure you have read the journal’s aims and scope. Authors should first determine their manuscripts’ scholarly area or contribution (business, economics or international relations). They also need to submit a cover letter explaining concisely how their submission fits in journal’s aims and scope and contributes to scholarly literature. Authors may also use the dialog box to contact the editor.
2. Submission Information:
Authors should fill their names and addresses, the title and abstract of their manuscripts in related fields. Keywords and JEL codes need to be submitted. Scientific databases and search engines use this information for indexing and abstracting.
3. Manuscript Uploading:
Authors should follow the instructions to upload their manuscripts. THE MANUSCRIPT MUST NOT CONTAIN ANY CLUE REGARDING AUTHOR(S)’ IDENTITY OR AFFILIATION.
4. Submission Confirmation:
Submission is completed after running a final check of the uploaded files.
Uploaded files should include:
- Manuscript (with no information about the authors)
- Abstract
- Cover Letter (including author(s) name, surname, institution, e-posta, address, ORCID no)
- Copyright Agreement Form (can be downloaded during submission)
- Similarity Report (iThenticate/Turnitin can be used. Manuscripts with more than 20% overall similarity scores (including references and quotations) cannot be accepted for consideration.)
The Journal Writing Style
1. Font - Times New Roman 12-point font style is to be used throughout the text
2. Page Format - On an A4 size paper:
Top, bottom, left and right margins: 2,5 cm (0,98 inches)
Paragraphs should be justified
No hyphenation
Paragraphs should have an indent of 0,5 cm.
3. Paragraph Format - In the indent and spacing section of paragraph tab:
Left and right section should be 6 pt (0,6 line)
Line spacing should be 1,5.
4. Word Limits - Articles submitted should not exceed 10,000 words, including all notes and references.
5. Headings- Main section headings should be centered and bold.
6. Author Names - Author names should not appear anywhere in the manuscript. Manuscripts including author names are not processed and returned.
7. Abstract- Abstracts should have number of words between 150-200 and should not include citations. There is no need to submit abstract, keywords in Turkish during the submission process.
8-. Key Words - Between 5-8 words.
9. Main Text - The manuscript should include an introduction, a conclusion and other relevant sections.
10. References - EAR adheres to the APA reference style. View the Publication Manual of American Psychological Association (6 edition) to get your manuscript conform to journal style of referencing.
ENDNOTES
Please use endnotes instead of footnotes. Endnotes should be marked by consecutive superscript numbers in the related part of the text, and listed at the end of the article.
The authors whose articles are published are kindly requested to check their articles and if there is any mistake, to inform us within 4 days at the latest from the date of publication.
Submission Fee
The Journal of Ege Academic Review do not charge authors any fee for submitting and publishing their articles.
Kozal obtained her PhD from Ege University's Graduate School of Social Sciences with a thesis entitled "The 200-Year History of Industrialization in Turkey: Continuities and Transformations (Türkiye'de Sanayileşmenin 200 Yıllık Tarihi: Süreklilikler ve Dönüşümler). Since 2015, she has been employed at Ege University's Department of Economics. During the 2018-2019 academic year, she held the position of visiting scholar at the University of Groningen, where she conducted research for her doctoral dissertation. Her research interests include the political economy of sustainable development, industrialization, and the ecological and circular economy.
I am a faculty member in the Department of Business, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, at Ege University, specializing in the Department of Quantitative Methods. My academic research focuses on areas such as data science and analytics, digital transformation, decision support systems, and management information systems. I particularly focus on topics like data mining and customer lifetime value analysis, and I am involved in various scientific publications and projects related to the use of technological solutions in decision support processes. My goal is to develop innovative solutions in these fields.
Dr. Betül Aydoğan Ünal completed her BA at Boğaziçi University and her PhD in Public Administration at Dokuz Eylül University. She was a Visiting Fellow in the Department of Government at Harvard University during the 2013-2014 academic year. Currently, she serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of International Relations at Ege University. Her research interests include institutional behavior, automated text analysis, Turkish politics, and political institutions.
